Skins are customization of heroes and items within the game. Hero skins are unlocked in hero forge where you need to spend shards in order to unlock them. Variation of skins can be unlocked by spending required amount of Gold.

Skins available at the beginning.
Colors recquire 80 000 Gold to unlock.
Rare Skin
Require 60 Shards to unlock.
Colors require 120 000 Gold to unlock.
Epic Skin
Recquire 100 Shards to unlock.
Colors recquire 150 000 Gold to unlock.
Legendary Skin
Recquire 150 Shards to unlock.
Colors recquire 200 000 Gold to unlock.
